The Car of Your Dreams: Augmented Reality QR Code Bumper Stickers
Idea
Each issue of the magazine features three Top Gear branded QR code bumper stickers, each of which, when scanned by a mobile phone, reveals a top of the range car.
By scanning the code with their smartphone code readers, users can upload the picture to the social network of their choice (Facebook, Twitter and Google+ buttons allow sharing), drawing attention to Top Gear UK’s social assets in the process.
Execution
The cover copy on the front of each magazine, accompanying each sticker reads ‘Turn Your Tabby Into A Tiger!’
However, the stickers themselves read ‘My Other Car’s A ….’ leaving a space for a QR code.
There are a number of different QR code stickers that are included each featuring a top of the range car – such as a Lexus, Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini (for example).
On the back of each sticker are instructions advising users how to access each code, how to post and details of Top Gear’s web/social sites.
Effect
The idea is that readers can humorously showcase and share the car of their dreams both on and offline and become more active in Top Gear’s online communities.
